Dushan888- Technology & FOSS for Humans

Technology & FOSS for Humans!

Who I am??

Hi fellows! Well If I say something about me, I’m Dushan Basnayake & my friends call me Dushi. At present I’m an undergraduate (in IT) of Sri Lanka Institute of information Technology (SLIIT). I’ m a new comer to the FOSS community so that also makes me new to GNU/Linux Environment.

mmm! When speaking about my personal life, I’m a Musical kind one, hearing lot of music. And watch lot of Movies! I’m So much interested about FOSS activities and new gadgets. Usually I’m friendly with everyone and don’t like to see people been upset around me. So I always try to do something funny with my friends. Some times people misunderstand me, thinking that I can’t take things serious! But most of the time I was serious to my self. I think every one should always be happy. Freedom and friendship is something I consider as gold! That is the most reasonable reason, why I chose FOSS. I also admire ‘positive attitudes’. But when I felt that things won’t work in that way, I don’t think twist to express my ‘negative attitudes’.

My love life is ‘killing kind’. But I like the way it is! It always gave a meaning to my life. I know it’s not going to work, but I just can’t stop it. It’s like ‘Mess with the Best Die for the Rest’! OK let me abort that stuff…..

Before I came to SLIIT I’ve never been heard, what is Free and Open Source Software. But after my SLIIT life was started, I met lot of new Friends. One interesting character was “chanux”. He introduced this new stuff to me. Then bit by bit, day by day I got the taste of FOSS. It’s actually a brain wash! Then I started to use GNU/Linux for the 1st time in my life. Dam it was so cool! I learn t lot of things about FOSS+GNU/Linux by chanux and still learning! And if someone says Dushi is inspired by chanux, it’s wrong because it should be ‘Dushi is totally inspired by chanux’. He is my GNU/Linux teacher.

My Blog’s (dushan888) primary target is to help the beginners of the FOSS world and make them stronger by giving new information about the field, giving them coding lessons, giving the basics of GNU/Linux and much more. So Enjoy it. If you can take the whole content of my Blog and leave only your comments, that’ll be a great help to improve dushan888’s quality.

–Thank You–

Hey Man, lovely blog! I’ve been using Linux on and off for about 3 or 4 years now, my current distro is a heavily modified (think Mac OSX themed) version of Ubuntu 8.10… My only problem with the thing is that I can’t get it to recognize my USB adsl modem, and so I’m blocked off from the net, which forces me to use stupid M$… anyway, I hope the Linux community stops ignoring the small minority of people who still use USB modems (they say on their site that they highly recommend using the network card and that USB basically means UnSuitable for Broadband) and give full USB support in future distros…

Cheers and Good luck with your blog/studies! :)
